Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. - Philippians 2:3-4 NIV
One of my first questions when I work with an organization is how well the Board and the Executive Director work together.
The most important relationship is between the Board Chair and the Executive Director. If this relationship is strong and trustworthy, it trickles down through the entire organization. However, if the relationship is strained, the environment of the organization reflects that strain.
The Board and Executive Director should be a unified team working toward the same vision. Any personality conflicts need to be placed aside and the vision is the cornerstone. The focus must remain on the Lord and the direction He has for the organization.
When a Board and the Executive Director are seeking the Lord together, staying focused on the same vision, and communicating well, they are an unstoppable team for the Lord’s glory!
Stay on Vision!
