Day and night I’ll stick with God;
I’ve got a good thing going and I’m not letting go.
I’m happy from the inside out,
and from the outside in, I’m firmly formed. – Psalm 16:18-19 MSG
When I first meet with a person in Christian leadership, I ask what their favorite thing is to do to relax and find joy. The place where their mind can rest and they can have peace and joy. During our most stressful and anxious times, it is important to stop and ground ourselves in areas that bring us joy.
Some examples I have heard:
Gardening.
Reading a book in peace.
Long baths.
Massages.
Crocheting while listening to an audiobook (my personal one).
Self-care means caring for yourself so you can remain in ministry for longer. Take time for yourself. Take time to enjoy the journey and give your body peace.
