Listen, GOD! Please, pay attention!
Can you make sense of these ramblings, my groans and cries?
King-God, I need your help.
Every morning you’ll hear me at it again.
Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on your altar
and watch for fire to descend.
MSG Psalm 5:1-3
There is incredible power in routines. There have been books about it, apps made to encourage
them, and countless podcasts talking about them. Yet, until you experience the benefits of routines it may take a bit to buy into them.
In the morning, I have a set routine 6 out of 7 mornings a week. I do not tell you this to brag. Instead it is to tell you that it is for the very breathe I need every single day. If my routine changes or is missed, I become irritable, discontent, and easy to anger. If my routine is in place, I can handle life far better.
So you may be asking yourself what is this routine?
Get up & brush my teeth.
Let the dogs out.
Make coffee.
Get into my daily Scripture, devotional, etc.
This entire routine including the Bible time takes less than 45 minutes on most days. On a more relaxed day, I can sit and study the Word for as long as I would like. Most days, my schedule is tight, and I get twenty to thirty minutes in the Bible. The key to my peace is the Scripture. Devotionals and books are excellent, but nothing compares to the Word.
As leaders of God’s ministries, your time with the Lord is vital to support you, guide you, and teach you. I am not telling you this from a place of judgment, but from my personal experience.
Praying for all of your routines,
Ashley
